WHO WE ARE
Tumbling Shoals Baptist Church was founded in 1989 with a simple conviction: that the faithful preaching of God’s Word is the primary means by which God builds His church. Over thirty-five years later, that conviction has not changed.
We are a congregation of ordinary people who have been reached by an extraordinary gospel. We believe that God is sovereign over all things, that the Bible is the inspired and inerrant Word of God, and that sinners are justified before Him by grace alone through faith alone in Jesus Christ alone. These are not peripheral convictions for us — they are the foundation of everything we do.
WHAT SHAPES US
Expository Preaching Every Sunday, Pastor Mark preaches verse by verse through books of the Bible. We believe that when the Bible speaks, God speaks — and that the congregation’s greatest need is to hear and submit to His Word. Sermons at TSBC move carefully through the grammar and context of the original text, drawing out the author’s intended meaning and applying it to daily life.
The Doctrines of Grace We hold to the historic Baptist faith: that God is sovereign in salvation, that man is dead in sin apart from divine intervention, and that those whom God calls, He keeps. We do not shy away from the deep things of God. We believe that high theology produces humble, joyful, evangelistic Christians.
Discipleship Through Systematic Teaching We are committed to raising up disciples who can open their Bibles and understand what they read. Our three-year men’s discipleship program works through systematic theology monthly. Our women’s ministry meets monthly in the Word. Sunday School classes across all ages are taught to think carefully and biblically.
