Recently, I had the privilege of sitting down with Dr. Hershael York for a special episode of the Line Upon Line Ministries Podcast. Dr. York has been a longtime friend of Bro. David Miller and a dear friend to our church family at Tumbling Shoals Baptist Church. It was a joy to reflect together on God’s faithfulness through the years and to remember the lasting impact of faithful gospel ministry.
Dr. York currently serves at The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary and has faithfully preached and taught the Word of God for decades. But more importantly to us, he has shared a deep and meaningful friendship with Bro. David Miller—one marked by mutual encouragement, shared convictions, and a love for Christ and His church.
In this episode, Dr. York reflects on those years of friendship and ministry. We also feature a powerful sermon from Bro. David Miller titled “The Doctrine of Substitution” from Isaiah 53. This message beautifully and clearly proclaims the heart of the gospel: that Jesus Christ bore our sins in our place. As Isaiah writes, “He was wounded for our transgressions; He was bruised for our iniquities.” What a glorious truth—that Christ stood as our substitute!
I believe this conversation will encourage you. It reminds us that faithful ministry leaves a legacy—not for personal glory, but for the glory of Christ and the good of His church.
The interview is only Part 1 of 2, so stay connected to hear the rest of the interview in a future podcast episode.
I hope you’ll take time to listen and be encouraged by both the conversation and the faithful preaching of God’s Word.
In Christ,
Pastor Mark Williams
